4 Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Pool
We Are Here to Help | 7.11.2018
Summer is here, and that means it’s officially pool season! Spending time in the pool is fun for the whole family, and a great way to stay cool in the summer heat, but pool maintenance can be a hassle. With these four tips, you can keep your pool pristine so you can enjoy it all summer long.
Skimming and Scrubbing – Get in the habit of skimming the surface of your pool on a daily basis. The more often you skim, the less time it will take you to clear the debris. Investing in a robot vacuum to clean the bottom of the pool is also a great idea if you have the money.
To prevent algae buildup, you should also scrub the sides of your pool every so often. Look for growths and scrub them away when they appear.
Keep Filters Clear – Your pool filter is constantly removing impurities from your pool water and should be cleaned at least once per week. Debris like leaves, dirt, and small toys can clog up the filters which allows your pool to get dirty. Empty the baskets and set your filter to “backwash” once per month to clean the pipes in your filter system.
Keeping Chemicals in Balance – Maintaining the chemical levels in your pool is a critical part of proper pool maintenance. Improperly balanced chemicals can make your pool a breeding ground for bacteria or even cause skin and eye irritation. Test the water once per week, and visit our pool and spa outlet in Pittsburgh, PA to purchase the proper pool chemicals.
Tennis Balls – This tip may sound strange, but it can help. When swimming, oils from sunscreen, hair products, and our skin get left behind in the pool. The fibers on a tennis ball can absorb the oils and keep your pool clean. Throw one or two in the water this summer.
