Hot Tub Safety Tips
Health and Fitness | 6.26.2017
As the owner of a hot tub, it’s crucial to know how to use it correctly. This means learning about certain safety tips and procedures, so that you can provide a safe environment for you, your family, and your house guests. Simply get the safety stuff out of the way, so that you’re able to fully relax and enjoy your home’s hot tub!
Here are some of the #1 hot tub safety tips to know about.
- Always leave the cover on. If you’re not using your hot tub, you should always leave the cover on – and make sure to latch it. If there are young children in the home, preventing accidental drownings is obviously your top priority.
- Educate yourself on the various illnesses/medications that could be affected. The truth is that there are certain medications that can cause, say, drowsiness – which could present serious problems when it comes to hot tub use. In addition, certain illnesses (such as high blood pressure and diabetes) are problematic.
- Just say to electrical appliances. To prevent accidental electric shocks, you should avoid using any electrical appliances around your hot tub. Battery-powered appliances are, of course, okay! Just be sure to keep any electrical appliances and extension cords away from the area.
- Make a list of house rules. If you have children that use your hot tub (particularly if they are doing so unsupervised), having a clear list of guidelines for hot tub usage can be super helpful. Make a list and clearly communicate each item on the list to your family. This way, you can keep everyone safe and happy!
