4th of July Pool Party Safety Tips
We Are Here to Help | 7.3.2017
Are you getting ready to host a pool party for the 4th of July? If so, it’s imperative that you and your guests abide by certain pool safety tips, to ensure that everyone stays safe! Here are our main pool safety tips to keep in mind:
- Supervise the kiddos. If there will be small children at your party, then it’s crucial that they stay under supervision at all times, if they’re swimming. Stay in arm’s reach of really young kiddos, and appoint someone to watch the water when there are people in the pool. Keep in mind, too, that young kids should wear flotation devices or life jackets. This way, you can rest assured that all children in the area will stay safe!
- Secure the area. Surround your pool with a fence or barrier, as well as a self-latching gate. This will ensure that everyone stays out of the pool area, unless there is proper supervision. Be sure to place a safety cover on your pool, if it’s temporarily not being used. In addition, if you have a hot tub, this goes for your hot tub as well! You may even consider installing a pool alarm that goes off if anyone tries to enter the pool area.
- Establish your own rules. Do you have a diving board? Is your pool too shallow to dive in? Would you prefer that everyone swim with a buddy? (YES!) Whatever rules you deem appropriate, just make sure that they are clearly communicated to the group.
- Keep your pool clean. Maintain proper chemical levels, and regularly adjust these levels as needed. Clean your pool when necessary, and keep up with your pool’s maintenance.
